5 Tips That Will Help With Interview Techniques

Let’s help you with interview techniques. You can have the best resumé in the world, but it will not help you much if you do not have a good job interview. This is your chance to network and shows your potential employers what kind of person you would be to work with. Typical interview advice includes shaking hands, speaking confidently, and making eye contact. But, there are several other bits of preparation and interview strategies that will help you land the job that people may not often think about.

5 Tips That Will Help With Interview Techniques

Research the Company

Before you go in for your interview, you should understand what the company is all about. Remember some basic knowledge of their history, mission statement and company values, and any products or services they may offer. This shows interest and organization on your part and also gives you the chance to tailor your answers to exactly what they need.

Practice Specific Interview Questions

Many mock interviews include typical questions such as your biggest strengths and weaknesses, preferred work environment, and education and professional background. However, many job interviews will include questions specific to the job, company, or industry. You can easily search interview questions for “NAME OF COMPANY, JOB, OR INDUSTRY” and having these answers ready to go will really make you stand out from the crowd.

Plan Your Outfit Carefully

Do some research beforehand on the company logo or colors. Incorporating this into your outfit shows appreciation and the ability to do research. Some color choices will also affect the mood of your interviewers. For instance, black outfits can be pretty off-putting while cool colors, like blue, are calming and give you a more professional aura.

Follow-Up with a Thank You

It is a good idea to send a thank you letter or email following your interview. This shows appreciation, gives you better rapport with your interviewers and also helps remind them to keep you in mind. You can also follow-up on your interview within a few days to a week. Inquire about the position status and ask if there is any other information you can provide.

Build Rapport with Everyone – Not Just Your Interviewers

The person conducting your interview will discuss it with their coworkers. This includes other supervisors, subordinate employees, and clerical staff. Make sure you greet everyone, ask how their day is going, and thank the clerical staff for their greeting. The other staff will make note of this to your interviewer and may even recommend you. This helps you stand out and also shows that you will be a polite, upstanding employee.
